Center Pompidou, Paris

The Centre Pompidou houses one of the two largest collections of modern and contemporary art in the world—the largest in Europe. With over 140,000 works, this national collection, owned by the French state and managed by the Musée national d’art moderne, is unique in its diversity of creative disciplines.

The continuous expansion of the collection—through three acquisition committees per year—and the large number of loans, both within France and internationally, make storage a strategic priority in terms of conservation. As the current storage facility in northern Paris became too limited, the Centre Pompidou sought a larger space, equipped with facilities perfectly suited for the preservation of its heritage, while also open to innovation in the field of conservation and restoration.

Driven by its mission to share as many works as possible with the widest possible audience, and building on its regional, national, and international experience, the Centre Pompidou has intentionally designed this new center as an open and shared space. It is intended to host a rich, multidisciplinary, and inclusive program, in close collaboration with local stakeholders.

Made possible through a partnership with the Île-de-France region, the Essonne department, the Paris-Saclay intercommunal structure, and the city of Massy, and with support from the French state, the future Paris branch of the Centre Pompidou will open in Massy in the fall of 2026.

Winlock will supply and install 23 fire-rated sectional shutters, equipped with Air Lock and Safe Lock.
