PROTAN ADHERED WARM ROOF SYSTEM ON STEEL SUBSTRATE
The Protan Adhered System can be used on both warm and cold roof structures, new build and renovation projects. In some countries adhesion is a common roofing method, but this solution cannot be installed during cold or wet weather.
This type of solution can be appropriate on buildings with high humidity, such as swimming pools, and on roofs with, for example, a wood wool deck, where mechanical fastening is difficult.
For fully adhered roofing systems, Protan has developed the Protan EX-A membrane with polyester fleece on the reverse.
CONSTRUCTION STRUCTURE:
- PROTAN EX-A MEMBRANE
- MEMBRANE ADHESIVE
- INSULATION
- MECHANICALLY FASTENED INSULATION
- VAPOUR CONTROL LAYER
- STEEL SUBSTRATE
PROTAN EX-A MEMBRANE:
Protan EX-A membrane is a polyester reinforced PVC membrane which has a polyester fleece laminated on the reverse side. The membrane is to be installed in an exposed adhered roof system in which it is bonded to polyisocyanurate (PIR) or suitable mineral wool insulation, please contact Protan for approved insulation types.
MEMBRANE ADHESIVE:
- Protan ProBond moisture curing PU adhesive or approved moisture curing PU adhesive.
SYSTEM INSTALLATION METHOD:
- Protan Adhered Roof System - It is required that the roofing membrane is fully adhered (i.e. 100% covered with adhesive). Any insulation must be fastened to the roof structure separately to resist wind forces. This can be achieved by mechanically fastening it to the structure. It is critical that there is good 'anchoring' between all the layers in the roof structure.
Please contact Protan for further advice.
INSULATION:
Various types of insulation can be used in combination with Protan membranes and can be flat insulation or sloped insulation. The material type and design will depend on the building design, fire classification and local regulation requirements.
- Mineral wool (MW) – can be glass or stone type - glass tissue faced
- Polyisocyanurate (PIR) - glass tissue faced
VAPOUR CONTROL LAYER:
STEEL SUBSTRATE:
- Profiled metal decking consists of galvanised steel. Minimum recommended thickness 0.7mm to EN 10346 Fe E280G Z275 or local regulations.
