The story of Ovella began when the founder’s son’s bicycle was stolen during band practice. This event inspired the development of products designed to reduce chaos and prevent theft. Almost overnight, the company’s strategy changed from operating as an office machine shop to becoming a bicycle rack manufacturer.

In 2000 the company developed the worlds first mobile phone operated bicycle parking system. Today Ovella Systems Oy manufactures and markets bicycle parking systems for indoor and outdoor use and has delivered solutions to London with plans for Birmingham in Great Britain.

Ovella racks are easy to use, safe, durable and high quality. They are made of painted or galvanized steel. The solutions are efficient, secure and cost effective. Installation instructions and mounting brackets are included when needed.

Ambra Residential Building - Skanska

The housing block project As. Oy Helsingin Ambra in Jätkäsaari is based on a winning competition entry in an invited competition organised by the developer Skanska and the city of Helsinki in 2021. The building’s stepped volume creates large private terraces with sea views for the apartments and enables a lush landscape of green roofs that connect the building to the adjacent Saukonpaadenpuisto park. The unique metal-clad, copper-coloured building stands out as a landmark in the cityscape. In addition to the 126 apartments, there are commercial spaces at street level, housing a restaurant and a bar. Ovella bike racks were also selected as part of the project, an obvious choice thanks to their high-quality, durable, and well-designed products that support sustainable residential use.
