Phillips Academy - Andover, MA

Phillips Academy in Andover, MA has opened the Falls Music Center, designed by ARC/ Architectural Resources Cambridge, as its first purpose-built venue for music education and performance. At 30,000 square feet, the facility is a central hub for the Academy’s music program, offering flexible ensemble spaces, versatile classrooms, a cutting-edge recording studio, percussion studio, modern music storage library, technology labs, and faculty offices.

The building is designed to evolve with changing music technologies while supporting both student learning and faculty collaboration. Sustainability is integral to the project: targeting LEED Gold, the Falls Music Center is a zero on-site carbon facility powered by 32 vertical-bore geothermal wells. Low velocity HVAC distribution and displacement ventilation meet stringent acoustical requirements, while advanced lighting controls allow the building to adapt seamlessly to rehearsals, performances, and instruction.

EQUITONE high-density fiber cement panels provide the durable, timeless façade that complements this forward-looking vision. As the first and only Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze fiber cement material, EQUITONE aligns with the Academy’s sustainability goals while giving architects the freedom to craft a resilient design that will inspire generations of musicians.

The Falls Music Center is a landmark for Phillips Academy—uniting innovation, sustainability, and the arts. EQUITONE is proud to be part of this achievement.
