A 60-story multifamily structure in Downtown LA needed a durable, reliable,
efficient plumbing solution that could be installed in the slab while also
promoting long-lasting system performance.
ACCO Engineered Systems sought a plumbing solution that could be installed in a concrete slab to allow for higher ceilings in
the residential units. This type of installation had never been done before by any other plumbing contractor in the city of Los
Angeles. Going into the project, they knew they had a tight installation timeline of plumbing one 16-unit floor per week and
needed a system that facilitated a quick installation while maintaining reliability. The plumbing subcontractor, ACCO, also
wanted a strong product warranty for added confidence. They have a long history record and are well versed in high-rise
installations, so they wanted a brand that offered support throughout the entire construction cycle to help ensure a smooth
installation from start to finish.
Results:
The project incorporated Uponor AquaPEX® pipe, ProPEX® fittings, and multiport tees for the in-suite plumbing while also using long coils of pre-sleeved Uponor AquaPEX in the concrete slab. Both the engineer and installer felt confident about the installation efficiency and lasting quality of the Uponor products.
