ALT F50 system is a light translucent building envelope designed to be either suspended or fixed to the floor
slab. It is also suitable for manufacturing skylights, conservatories, green houses and other constructions. Vertical
(mullions) and horizontal (transoms) elements with a visible width of 50 mm serve as a supporting structure, which
increases lightness and transparency of the facade. The ALT F50 curtain wall series provides several ways of creating
mullion and transom junctions:
• 6 mm notch connection (without mullion grooving)
• 6 mm notch connection with shaping (with mullion grooving)
Design engineers have the possibility to select necessary load-bearing elements depending on the loads and the
building’s structure. That’s why the ALT F50 series includes a wide range of additional mullions and transoms. Besides,
the case of exceptionally high loads all the mullions and transoms can be strengthened. A wide range of transom
profiles permits the installation of transoms of the same size as mullions if it’s necessary. It’s particularly convenient
during assemblage of the building envelope to the floor slab joining point or during mounting of automatic sliding
doors into facade construction.
A mullion can be used as a transom in this system. It allows our clients to reduce waste left from mullion profiles.
It will also ensure nil waste production and will optimise the process of profile cutting.
During temperature swings, horizontal changes occur in the size of construction elements. This is made up
through combining transom special treatment and decorative end caps. They hide the joining point of mullion and
transom butts. Vertical changes in the size of construction elements are made up by a mutual (telescopic) junction
of two mullions using insert profile and ornamental plastic elements hiding joint point.
In the ALT F50 series a number of tools are used in order to obtain necessary thermal and soundproof properties of
the walling. First of all, a set of heat-plugs (heat insulators) is used which are made of hard and shockproof polyvinyl
chloride (PVC-U-HI) with high heat insulating properties. Secondly, a set of sealing gaskets are used made from
ethylene-propylene rubber (EPDM) and finally, seam sealing made from expanded material. We can achieve the
following parameters of thermal isolation in nodal solution (according to standard DIN 4108-4) through the optimal
combination of these components:
• In the case of installing infill units 26 mm thick and using PVC-U-HI heat-plug, thermal transmission coefficient
Uf = 2,4 W / (m2K) or reduced total thermal resistance Rpr = 0.42 m2 ° C / W (frame material group 2.1);
• In the case of installing infill units 56 mm thick and using seam sealing AYPC.F50.0913 made from expanded
material a thermal transmission coefficient Uf = 0,65 W / (m2K) is achieved or reduced total thermal resistance
Rpr = 1.53 m2 ° C / watt.
Heat-plugs and gaskets allow installing the infill units (glass, sealing, insulated panels, etc.) with infill thickness of
4 to 56 mm. Glazing and installation of panels or window units are made from outside the building. Infill is fixed with
clamp bars, which are fixed to the bearing profile with the help of stainless steel screws (A2 or A4) spaced not more
than 250 mm apart. From the outside clamp bars are covered with cover caps of different configurations. The covers
can be coated with any RAL colour or anodised. This facade can also be of two colours – internal facade elements
(mullions and transoms) can be coated with one colour, and outside elements (decorative cover caps) with another
one.
In the positions where infill units are installed, all mullion and transom profiles have grooves that serve for
condensate disposal and seam area ventilation.
All clamping elements should be made of stainless steel (A2 or A4). It prevents corrosion and ensures a long
operational life for the facade without losing of its strength parameters.
Facade construction can be supplied with windows and doors of any type of opening.
Static and strength projections of each particular facade construction is calculated during engineering. This
catalogue contains all the inertia data of profiles required for static calculations.
