RSIC-1 Resilient Sound Isolation Clips
The Most Economical Option for Professional Grade Acoustic Performance in Wall and Ceiling Assemblies
The RSIC-1 resilient sound isolation clip system offers a highly effective solution for reducing sound transmission through wall and floor/ceiling assemblies. Designed primarily for new construction, the RSIC-1 clips are mounted directly to framing members (studs or joists), into which 7/8" 25-gauge galvanized steel hat channels (with hemmed edges) are clicked into place - perpendicular to the framing. The drywall is then fastened to the hat channel, rather than directly to the structure—effectively decoupling the drywall and minimizing direct contact with framing elements.
This decoupled assembly allows for slight movement and vibration of the drywall, enabling the system to dissipate sound energy and significantly reduce airborne and impact noise. Field tests have shown that the RSIC-1 system provides exceptional acoustic results, with improvements of up to 20 STC points in wall assemblies, which is a massive number.
For retrofit applications, RSIC-1 Retro Clips and washers are available and have been shown to enhance the sound performance of existing walls and ceilings by 8–10 dB, based on actual field measurements.
Key Performance Features:
- Engineered to address both high and low frequency noise
- STC ratings up to 55—representing up to a 19 dB improvement over standard assemblies
- Proven field performance with increases of up to STC 20 in wall systems
- UL Classified in over 139 fire-resistive design assemblies, with up to 4-hour fire endurance ratings
- Multiple RSIC-1 variants available to suit a variety of construction scenarios
The RSIC™ family of products represents the most cost-effective, high-performance sound control solutions on the market today. Whether used in residential, commercial, or institutional construction, RSIC-1 clips deliver consistent, professional-grade acoustic results.
