    RSIC-1 Resilient Sound Isolation Clips

    RSIC-1 Resilient Sound Isolation Clips
The Most Economical Option for Professional Grade Acoustic Performance in Wall and Ceiling Assemblies

The RSIC-1 resilient sound isolation clip system offers a highly effective solution for reducing sound transmission through wall and floor/ceiling assemblies. Designed primarily for new construction, the RSIC-1 clips are mounted directly to framing members (studs or joists), into which 7/8" 25-gauge galvanized steel hat channels (with hemmed edges) are clicked into place - perpendicular to the framing. The drywall is then fastened to the hat channel, rather than directly to the structure—effectively decoupling the drywall and minimizing direct contact with framing elements.

This decoupled assembly allows for slight movement and vibration of the drywall, enabling the system to dissipate sound energy and significantly reduce airborne and impact noise. Field tests have shown that the RSIC-1 system provides exceptional acoustic results, with improvements of up to 20 STC points in wall assemblies, which is a massive number.

For retrofit applications, RSIC-1 Retro Clips and washers are available and have been shown to enhance the sound performance of existing walls and ceilings by 8–10 dB, based on actual field measurements.

    Key Performance Features:

    • Engineered to address both high and low frequency noise
    • STC ratings up to 55—representing up to a 19 dB improvement over standard assemblies
    • Proven field performance with increases of up to STC 20 in wall systems
    • UL Classified in over 139 fire-resistive design assemblies, with up to 4-hour fire endurance ratings
    • Multiple RSIC-1 variants available to suit a variety of construction scenarios

The RSIC™ family of products represents the most cost-effective, high-performance sound control solutions on the market today. Whether used in residential, commercial, or institutional construction, RSIC-1 clips deliver consistent, professional-grade acoustic results.

    Specification
    • The RSIC‑1 Resilient Sound Isolation Clips provide one of the most economical and effective methods for achieving professional‑grade acoustic performance in wall and ceiling assemblies. Designed to break the direct connection between drywall and framing, these resilient sound isolation clips create a true wall/ceiling decoupling system that dramatically reduces sound transmission.

Installed by fastening the RSIC‑1 clips directly to studs or joists, 7/8″ 25‑gauge galvanized steel hat channels are then clicked into place perpendicular to the framing. Drywall is attached to the channel rather than the structure itself, forming a decoupled wall assembly. This slight separation allows controlled movement and vibration, dissipating sound energy and delivering reliable through‑wall noise reduction.

Field tests have demonstrated exceptional results, with improvements of up to 20 STC points in wall assemblies. In practice, this means airborne & impact sound control via decoupling cavity that can raise assemblies to STC up to 55 in tested assemblies, outperforming many conventional systems. For existing construction, retrofit soundproofing improvements are possible with RSIC‑1 Retro Clips and washers, which have been shown to enhance performance by 8–10 dB.

The RSIC‑1 system is UL Classified in more than 139 UL fire‑resistive assemblies, with endurance ratings up to four hours, making it a trusted solution for both safety and acoustics. As soundproofing hardware and vibration‑reduction clips, RSIC‑1 reduces structure‑borne vibration transmission while addressing both high and low frequency noise.

Applications span across residential, commercial, and institutional projects. From multifamily walls & ceilings soundproofing to hospitality and commercial acoustic build‑outs, education and worship space acoustics, and even recording studios and home theater isolation, RSIC‑1 clips deliver consistent, professional‑grade results. They are equally valuable in specialized environments such as law enforcement or medical exam room speech privacy, where confidentiality and clarity are critical.

By combining cost‑effectiveness with proven performance, the UL‑classified sound isolation clip system stands out as one of the most versatile high‑STC rated building materials available. Whether for new construction or retrofit, RSIC‑1 clips remain the trusted choice for architects, builders, and acoustical consultants seeking dependable sound isolation.
