Sismagrid: Low thickness seismic reinforcement
Sismagrid is an innovative low thickness seismic reinforcement system that is completely dry and can be installed without removing the existing plaster. The system has been developed for the reinforcement of load-bearing masonry buildings and reinforced concrete building infills. It consists of square-meshed preformed mesh modules made of 2 mm thick pre-galvanised structural steel strips.
Sismagrid enables the creation of diffuse chains in the vertical and horizontal direction. At wall corners and intersections, it creates constraints that allow an increase in the degree of connection between orthogonal walls and the elimination of first-mode collapse mechanisms.
In load-bearing masonry buildings, Sismagrid can be used:
- For local interventions to inhibit the formation of collapse kinematics;
- To contribute to the seismic improvement of the building globally.
In the case of reinforced concrete buildings, the anti-seismic reinforcement can be used as a protection system against the overturning and collapse of partition and infill walls.
